For those not in the know, Taobao is a Chinese eBay-like site. It features counterfeits and items stolen from factories, and some legitimate items as well. Amongst all these items, collectors can find ponies in the prototype stage or right before they ship.
All pictures in this post are from Taobao and all items may appear different when they hit the market, if they appear at all.
This first set of images is from a listing selling a set of fashion style ponies:
More fashion styles (and more merch!) after the break
The top two are princesses Celestia and Luna, but without glitter. The glittered version were Target exclusives in the Canterlot line. The toys might be rereleased, or these were just taken from the factory before they were glittered.
The third image is of a background pony, fan named Derpy Hooves or Ditzy Doo. Fans have asked Hasbro about this toy, and they were told that this was not a Hasbro product, but the same source has before said that blind bags wouldn’t make it to the US, and we know that turned out to be false. If Ditzy does make it out, then bronies will snap her up. Hopefully we’ll see her released with the other brony toys this fall!
The fourth image is of a white Celestia. We know Hasbro is willing to make a white Celestia toy, so this seems pretty legitimate.
Next are some tights, featuring Rainbowdash and Pinkie Pie. The label says they’re for 3-4 year olds, so only hardcore collectors and parents would have a need of these. I’d buy these if they were in my size, though!
Here’s a good image of the electronic Princess Cadance. Hopefully we’ll see her very very soon. Note on the bottom right of the packaging is the Pony Wedding emblem. Hasbro includes these emblems on their special toy lines; we’ve seen this on Target’s Canterlot line before.
Here’s the castle. There’s no good photo of the back where it lists everything included. The cardboard packaging is pretty heavy on this. There still isn’t a good idea on how much this’ll cost.
